The South Carolina Education Association Endorses Henri' Thompson

Columbia, October 23, 2006 - The South Carolina Education Association (SCEA) announced their unanimous endorsement of Henri' Thompson for South Carolina House of Representatives today, solidifying Henri' Thompson's strong support within education and teaching for tomorrow. The organization has over 13,000 members statewide including lunch room operators, bus drivers, principals, guidance counselors, secretaries, and administrators. The SCEA is the leading advocate for educational change in the state, and is the largest professional organization for educators in the State of South Carolina.

Today’s announcement is exciting for all educators, but particularly for District 5 Schools of Spartanburg County where over 7,000 students are served by a staff of more than 850.

Thompson is committed to providing every South Carolinian with the opportunity to receive a high quality education, from pre-kindergarten to college or vocational school to job retraining programs. He endeavors to reduce education achievement gaps, improve quality, reward top teachers, and support struggling schools.

“This recognition is an humbling honor,” Thompson said. “Education is the key to unlocking doors to the future and I'm grateful for receiving my keys from Lyman Elementary, D.R. Hill Middle, and Byrnes High School. I'm working to ensure that all students also receive their keys, and I'm thankful to the SCEA for their recommendation. ”
